OAKLAND, CA (June 22, 1998) - Internet security software provider C2Net Software, Inc. has named Brian Behlendorf to the newly created post of VP of Web Applications, effective June 8, 1998.

"We are fortunate to have someone of Brian's considerable talents join C2Net," said Sameer Parekh, President and CEO of C2Net Software, Inc. "As a founding member of the Apache Project, Brian has already played a crucial role in our company's success. C2Net's Stronghold Secure Web Server is built around the Apache Web Server, and we're excited to give Brian the opportunity to focus his talents on furthering this synergy and supporting the explosive growth of both Apache and Stronghold."

Behlendorf joins C2Net from Organic Online, where he was the company's co-founder and Chief Technology Officer. While at Organic, Brian developed the technology roadmap for Organic's engineering department and for Organic's clients including Barnes and Noble, Nike, Kinko's and Levi's. Before that, he was Chief Engineer behind the launch of HotWired, and established Wired's first web site in 1993.

Brian co-founded the Apache Project (http://www.apache.org) in 1995, helping to create the Apache Web Server, the software that powers over half the domains on the Internet. At C2Net, Brian will continue to actively develop the Apache Web Server as well as provide management to the overall development process for both the Apache Project and C2Net. Brian is also active in the IETF, co-founded the VRML Development Forum in 1994, and believes strongly that open standards are best enforced with an "Open Source" approach to software development.

Behlendorf's efforts will be directed towards developing Web server "framework" products as a complement to the current C2 product line. In addition, he will promote and manage relations with the Apache Group, as well as the open source development process. "C2Net has always been one of the leaders in the fields of cryptography and security, and shares my strong faith in the power of open-source software development," said Behlendorf. "I'm very excited to be a part of C2Net during this time of tremendous new opportunity and growth."

C2Net Software, Inc. (http://www.c2.net/) is the leading provider of uncompromised network security software.
