Last month was the three year anniversary for my Gaggia Titanium super automatic coffee machine. It's made 3200 coffees, so it easily paid for itself compared to the cost of buying them out. Whilst in London yesterday I took the time to visit Flat White in Soho, famed for it's skilled baristas. They didn't let me down, it was a great coffee. I also ended up popping along to Covent Garden to see the Monmouth Coffee Company and pick up some of their beans to try out. I usually buy all my beans from Drury so I'm looking forward to the comparison.

This week was also my first trip where I took my Nokia n800 instead of a laptop. The great thing is that with vnpc, xchat, and claws-mail being ported I can connect to the corporate VPN via wifi, check mail, and pop on internal chat. Unfortunately typing using the stylus or thumb touchscreen keyboard takes some getting used to, so I wasn't confident enough to be able to do useful work. So I ended up finding lots of things I ought to be doing, but wasn't able to do when I got frustrated with the slow speed of typing. I think with an external bluetooth keyboard I'd have had a better time, so I'll need to try one out. I had no problems using the free wifi in Benugo or the 30 minutes I paid for at Gatwick via 'the cloud'.

Actually I was expecting some trouble at Gatwick bringing back bags of coffee beans in my hand luggage (I watched some Australian program where they said people trying to import various substances often unsuccessfully try to hide the smell with coffee beans); but it was pretty uneventful and they seemed more concerned with a gent who had about 50ml of liquid but in a 200ml bottle.
